Pavement / Runway Improvement

Many new pavement overlays are subject to reflective cracking. These cracks significantly decrease structural strength and allow water to penetrate in Base/ Sub Base/Sub- Grade resulting in severe damage to Pavement Structure.

Sometimes cracks continue to form well after paving and sawing are complete. In some cases, these may be cracks that formed early and are simply becoming visible. In other cases, this is a clue that something is restraining the concrete, which is creating tensile stresses that lead to further cracking.

Main pavement failure is cracking primarily due to the inability of the overlay to withstand shear and tensile stresses created by either traffic loading or by thermal cycling (expansion and contraction).

Glass grids/Glass Seals/Compogrids (combination of Glass fiber reinforced Geogrids and Geotextiles) are used to provide solutions by delaying reflective cracking, bearing loads, increasing the life of pavement significantly.
